New Spin-off positions

This is a unique opportunity to join a private, biology-driven and preclinical-stage company, newly incorporated as a spin-off of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the Université catholique de Louvain.

This spin-off will leverage tumor immunology expertise from the Ludwig Institute to focus on discovery and development of first-in-class small molecule drugs that stimulate the immune system’s ability to detect and eliminate cancers. It will validate their therapeutic use in preclinical and clinical models to improve the efficacy of cancer treatments, with an initial focus on the improvement of therapeutic cancer vaccines.

Role
This position will provide scientific leadership and drug discovery/medicinal chemistry expertise for lead discovery and optimization projects. Reporting to the CEO, the candidate will develop and take ownership of various strategic initiatives for the drug discovery programs. The candidate must have proven track of effective project leadership within cross-functional teams, including effective management and decision making, as well as strong communications skills. Must be able to examine, prioritize and give credible scientific input on new concepts, molecular designs and other ideas coming from CROs, partners and consultants. In addition he/she is expected to develop and maintain strong awareness of external scientific and technological advances in the field of drug discovery. The candidate will develop contacts with thought leaders, professional organizations, and institutions and will represent company’s chemistry externally.

Role 
The purpose of this position is to lead company’s research efforts in small molecule immunomodulator discovery and development. Reporting to the CSO, the candidate will develop and take ownership of various strategic initiatives for the drug discovery programs. The candidate must have a proven track of effective project leadership within cross-functional teams, including effective management and decision making, as well as strong communications skills. Hire, direct, and develop qualified scientific staff and ensure that projects are accomplished on time and within budget. Must be able to manage the performance of his/her group effectively resulting in highest productivity, creativity and efficiency. Must be able to examine, prioritize and give credible scientific input on new concepts and other ideas coming from CROs, partners and consultants. In addition, he/she is expected to develop and maintain strong awareness of external scientific and technological advances in the field of drug discovery related to tumor immunology and immunomodulation. The candidate will develop contacts with thought leaders, professional organizations, and institutions and will represent company R&D externally.

Role
The purpose of these positions is to develop the company’s research efforts in small molecule immunomodulators discovery and development. The responsibilities will include assay development and implementation to enable the progression of new small molecule therapeutics. The position will also involve the study of immune system-tumor interaction by development of ex vivo and in vivo models and evaluation of the immunomodulators using these models.
